Immunity (Yu Ping Feng San)
Herbal Creatures™ Immunity is a high potency formula containing herbs traditionally used to treat a weakened or malfunctioning immune system resulting in recurrent infections or allergies.
A blend of herbs used for:
- Excessive panting or sweating
- Recurrent infections, increased susceptibility to infections or allergies
- Protection against contagious disease
-
How it works
Immunity is based on a Chinese herbal formula called Yu Ping Feng San, used to strengthen the immune response, consolidate the body’s ‘first line of defence’ and stop spontaneous sweating.
This formula has immunostimulant, antiviral and nephroprotective actions. The primary herb, Radix Astragali, has demonstrated antibacterial, antiviral, tonic, immunostimulant and vasodiatory actions.
Human clinical studies and research have reported efficacy in the prevention of respiratory infections and treatment of allergic rhinitis, profuse sweating and nephritis.
Veterinary clinical applications include prevention of respiratory infections and seasonal contagious disease, recurrent herpes virus infections in cats, recurrent bronchopneumonia, allergic rhinitis, abnormal sweating or panting, and glomerulonephritis. It is fabulous as a preventative medicine for performance animals, for protection against contagious disease when under stress or when frequently travelling.
Traditional understanding
Radix Astragali strengthens the Wei Qi (defensive Qi; the immune response), which increases the body’s defence against pathogenic factors such as bacteria or viruses. Together with Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, it also stops spontaneous sweating. Radix Saposhnikoviae dispels any pathogenic factors already in the system, especially those caused by wind. In TCM, wind is an environmental factor that triggers symptoms affecting the skin, orifices and respiratory tract. Conditions caused by wind are characterized by their rapid onset and tendency to itch, change location or recur seasonally.

Directions for use
Take 3 spoons (9 grams) once daily in wet food.
As this formula is primarily a preventative formula, it should be taken for at least 3 months for best results. Following this initial course, the formula can be taken for shorter periods of time in the lead up to and during times when the animal is at risk of infection.
For all ages and weights, an extra dose may be taken to enhance results or as professionally advised.
- Always consult with a qualified veterinary practitioner before taking herbal medicines and nutritional supplements.
- Always read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist consult your veterinary practitioner.
- Contraindicated in cases of acute infection unless combined with another formula. While this formula is appropriate for prevention of infections, there are more appropriate formulas for acute outbreaks once they have occurred.
