How it works
How it works
Vertigo Relief is based on a Chinese herbal formula called Ban Xia Bai Zhu Tian Ma Tang, used for the treatment of seizures, epilepsy, dizziness, ataxia, chronic nausea or vomiting and facial paralysis. Human clinical studies and research have shown strong results in the treatment of dizziness, vertigo, facial paralysis and nasosinusitis. This formula acts predominately on the upper body, and is particularly useful for disorders involving altered brain function, or symptoms and signs presenting in the head and face.
The most common veterinary clinical application of this formula is in the treatment of epilepsy in dogs. It is usually prescribed in conjunction with anticonvulsant medications. In some dogs, the dosage of these medications may be able to be gradually reduced over time. This formula should be taken for a minimum of 6 months.
Traditional understanding
This formula treats symptoms and signs resulting from a combination of what in Traditional TCM is described as ‘phlegm’ and ‘wind’. Generally, through poor digestive or lung function an accumulation of pathogenic fluids occurs first, and as this pattern becomes chronic, the fluids condense to form phlegm, which may or may not be tangible. When the Liver is concurrently in disharmony, from such triggers as stress, poor diet or toxicity, ‘wind’ is generated and the stirring and rising of this internal wind leads to symptoms that manifest in the upper body. The herbs in this formula combine to dissolve phlegm, subdue ‘Liver wind’, and strengthen the digestion to prevent further formation of pathogenic fluids.
