-
How it works
Build Up is based on a Chinese herbal formula called Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang, used to strengthen the body, such as in the aftermath of a severe illness. The formula is nourishing and strengthening and is beneficial in cases of general weakness or chronic fatigue.
One of the primary herbs, Radix Astragali is a potent immunostimulant, increasing the production of blood cells, as well as having antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, vasodilator and hypotensive actions.
Pharmacological effects of the overall formula include a regulatory effect on the gastrointestinal system, adaptogenic effects (increasing the ability of animals to adapt to physical stresses), immunostimulant, antiallaegic, anticancer, radioprotective, antibiotic and antiviral effects.
Veterinary clinical actions expand to include the treatment of myasthenia gravis, leukopenia secondary to chemotherapy, and various chronic illness in which fatigue is a factor, often in combination with other formulas.
Traditional Understanding
In Chinese medicine theory, when energy is depleted, especially in cases where the digestive system is not absorbing sufficient nutrition from foods, the organs will be more prone to prolapse. This formula acts to strengthen the energy of the Spleen and Stomach, improving digestive function, energy production, and preventing or supporting prolapse (of the uterus or rectum in particular).
