How it works
How it works
Skin Care is based on a Chinese herbal formula called Xiao Feng San, used to treat skin conditions, especially those manifesting as allergic or hypersensitivity reactions. Examples include skin rashes and hives, itching and dermatitis secondary to environmental allergens, fleas, fleas, drugs, chemicals or food.
This formula has demonstrated antiallergic, immunosuppressive and mast-cell-stabilising effects, and has shown positive results in the treatment of urticaria and eczema in humans. One of the herbs in the formula, Sophora root, is both antifungal and bacteriostatic.
Traditional understanding
Traditionally, this formula is used for skin conditions that arise from 'wind-dampness' or 'wind-heat'. Clinically, this means that the formula will be most effective for cases involving itchiness, redness, and trapped fluids or pus under the skin that may ooze out upon scratching. In TCM, when we treat the skin, we also treat the blood. This involves cooling the blood, assisting the detoxification of the blood, or nourishing the blood to assist both in clearing the skin, and also preventing recurrence.
